Justice Counts is founded on the belief that it should be easy for criminal justice agencies to share key data about their work and their achievements and easy for policymakers to use that data to make informed decisions that advance public safety, equity, and fairness.
Justice Counts provides tools, resources, and support to help agencies achieve this vision and to help policymakers most effectively utilize criminal justice data.
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT FOR MY AGENCY TO PARTICIPATE IN JUSTICE COUNTS?
1) Participating agencies will have the opportunity to showcase their work through data. 2) Agency leaders will be able to use the data to advocate for the resources they need. 3) Agencies are able to measure the impact of policy changes in their jurisdictions when compared to similar participating jurisdictions.
With grant funding from the Bureau of Justice Assistance and technical support from The Council of State Governments Justice Center, the Arizona Criminal Justice Commission will be facilitating the voluntary participation of justice agencies across Arizona. Commission staff has already begun reaching out to counties for Phase 1 of the Justice Counts implementation. We are very excited to partner with you on this important initiative and we believe that together we will improve the accessibility and usability of Arizona's criminal justice data for decision-makers and the public.
