The Crime Victim Assistance program is a competitive grant established to help fund projects providing effective services to crime victims in Arizona. Grant proposals are considered from public agencies, tribal agencies, and private non-profit organizations. Grant applications must be completed and submitted through the ACJC Grant Management System. The following are important dates associated with the annual grant award process:
In FY2019, ACJC awarded $750,000 in grant dollars to fund projects for 23 agencies to provide effective services to crime victims in Arizona. Four of these agencies provided ACJC grant-funded training, with 2,561 participants attending from various agencies.
In FY2019, these grant funds had a significant impact on the delivery of victim services by organizations. Funded programs reported serving over 14,500 victims and provided over 166,000 services for crime victims. These services include advocate services, referrals, assistance with Crime Victim Compensation applications, assistance in obtaining police reports and records, crisis intervention services, emergency shelter, notification services, and other assistance. During FY19, agencies reported they had approximately 650 volunteers who worked over 31,500 hours during the year. This equates to an additional 15 full-time employees dedicated to providing victim services in Arizona.
