FirstNet Authority Highlights Network Advancements, Outlines Strategic Priorities

At its year-end meeting today, the FirstNet Authority Board highlighted major areas of progress for FirstNet and outlined its priorities to ensure the continued evolution of the network and organization. This year saw continued momentum for FirstNet with expanded network deployment and growth in new public safety subscribers. Today, there are more than one million connections being used by more than 10,000 public safety agencies on FirstNet.

New FirstNet Cell Site Launches in Talbot County to Support Public Safety

Talbot County’s first responders are getting a major boost in their wireless communications with the addition of a new, purpose-built cell site. The site – located in Tilghman Island – is part of the FirstNet network expansion taking place in Maryland, which is bringing increased coverage, capacity and capability to first responders across the state.

FirstNet Authority Board Approves FY20 Budget

The FirstNet Authority Board today approved a budget for the organizations operations in Fiscal Year 2020, with a focus on supporting public safety engagement, continued oversight of the deployment of the nationwide public safety broadband network, and future investments in the network.
